On hearing about substance abuse, most people think to the use of illegal drugs, unbeknownst to them that several medications (analgesics like aspirin or antitussives like dextromethorphan) when taken recklessly, have a negative impact on the body and mind.
According to the WHO, Substance Abuse is the harmful use of psychoactive drugs or chemicals i.e substances that alter the normal mental function. Alcohol, pain killers, cough syrups, stimulants etc. are common examples of these.
Therefore, in line our goal to promote a healthy continent, we are embarking on a year-long campaign against Substance Abuse, with teenagers & young adults being the main focus.
This includes:
– Short courses
– Creative contests
– Webinars
– Mentorships
From the Healthy Africans Platform, we present the Substance Abuse Initiative, which kickstarts on Saturday, 14th November, 2020.

I love this
Will it take place only in Ibadan??
Yes the outreaches will be only in Ibadan for now because we do not have the capacity yet to organize outreach in different areas in Africa. However, we look forward to achieving that soon. Thanks
